NFL Standings: Can Miami Dolphins Make The Playoffs?
By Josh Hill
The Miami Dolphins put together a decent season this year, but are the playoffs still in their future?
The NFL regular season has just one more week left until the postseason begins, and there are three spots still open in the big dance. The NFC side of things is rather boring, as there are only two teams still alive and both are subpar teams looking to win the worst division in the NFL.

Over in the AFC though, things are a little more intense as there are two spots still open with as many as four teams in the mix still. One of those teams was the Miami Dolphins, but even though they won on Sunday in dramatic fashion over the Minnesota Vikings, they’re no longer in the playoff hunt in the AFC.
Miami needed the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose on Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs to remain alive in the postseason hunt, but that didn’t happen. Regardless of how impressive the Dolphins comeback win over Minnesota was, the win by Pittsburgh renders all Dolphins playoff scenarios irrelevant as they’re no longer valid.
If there’s silver lining to be had here, it’s that the comeback win saved Joe Philbin’s job. That may not be a positive to all Dolphins fans, but the win wasn’t a total loss in that regard. Miami is still out of the playoffs but they put together a season that was far better than anyone could have imagined.
