World Junior Hockey Championship Betting Odds; Canada Tops USA As Favorite

The puck dropped for the World Junior Hockey Championship on Friday with four preliminary matchups, including defending champion Finland taking on Jack Eichel and the United States, but both are looking up to Team Canada and Connor McDavid who are the betting favorites.

Connor McDavid is the main attraction at the World Junior Championships and the presumptive top pick in the upcoming 2015 NHL Entry Draft is poised to lead the host country of Canada to their first gold medal in this event since 2009.

McDavid has been tabbed as the best prospect since Sidney Crosby and his team is the betting favorite according to Bovada to bring home the gold with last year’s No. 2 pick of the Buffalo Bills Sam Reinhart and No. 7 pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2013 draft, Darnell Nurse leading the way.

Presumptive No. 2 pick, Jack Eichel and his U.S.A. squad come in second where he and projected No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft, Auston Matthews hope to continue the recent success of the Americans in the tournament.

The Canadiens are 11/10 favorites with the Americans checking in at 9/d with Sweden at 5/1, the Russians at 6/1 and last year’s winners, Finland a 9/1 favorite.
