Comedians Key and Peele take their best shot at creating their own NFL television studio show.

If you’re a big football fan, you probably are familiar with the NFL studio shows they have on different channels for general NFL discussion every Sunday,  that include pre-game and post-game comments. You have NFL shows on ESPN, NFL Network, FOX, CBS and more. Honestly, they all are basically the same exact thing, for the most part.

They all consist of former NFL players or coaches that basically just think they know it all and like to hear themselves talk. Now that is just a generalization, I don’t think each and every person on these shows thinks that way. I mean, it’s not their fault. These guys were offered a job to just sit around and talk about football all day. Who would turn that down?

However, it’s getting to a point where all these shows are exactly the same and give the same general, vague analysis on football games. Such as, ‘Well Mike, if this team can get going on offense and the defense can hold off the other team’s offense, I think they have a good chance of winning this game.”

Really? Wow, thank you for that tremendous insight.

Comedians Key and Peele apparently feel the same way. So, they decided to create their own NFL studio show, pretending to be former NFL players and giving out very general and vague insight on the upcoming Conference Championship games this weekend and cracking corny jokes in the process.

To be honest, I forgot for a second that I was watching a comedy bit.

This video was regarding this weekend’s AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Indianapolis Colts.

Former NFL players announcing their accomplishments in the league? Check. Very general and obvious keys to the game? Check. Cracking a corny joke over a pun? Check.

Seems pretty legit to me.

Here’s one they made for the NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, which I found particularly hilarious.

While this one is hilarious, I feel like it’s kind of offensive as well. He kind of touches on a former NFL player having brain damage with the whole getting stuck in a loop with his words thing. Comedy is supposed to be a bit edgy though.

Now, while we joke on these analysts and former players, obviously they are great football minds; they have the hardware and the accolades to prove it. Quite frankly, they understand the game at levels that us normal viewers probably couldn’t even comprehend, which is why they dumb it down for us.

So, while we may think we could do what they do, and honestly maybe we could, there’s no way we should ever begin to think that we possess the same football knowledge that these men have.

H/T to Comedy Central, Key & Peele and Complex Sports for the videos.
