It was a solid showing in the AFC Championship game for the Patriots, who blew out the Indianapolis Colts 45-7, propelling them to the Super Bowl yet again in the Tom Brady era. The truly great game of the afternoon was had by the Seattle Seahawks, who came from behind to beat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in an instant classic.
The Legion of Boom will meet Bill Belichick and the Patriots in the Super Bowl, and the oddsmakers already have an idea of who might win. Despite history needing to be made in order for the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl, as no team has won back-to-back Super Bowls since — you guessed it, that Patriots — the Seahawks are the early favorites to win Super Bowl XLIX.
The Seahawks won 24-23 when these two teams last met in 2012, but both teams are so much more different than they were then. The Legion of Boom already has a Super Bowl ring and they’re going for the repeat in dramatic fashion.
You don’t get anymore dramatic than beating Peyton Manning to get your first Super Bowl and following that up by having to beat Tom Brady for your second. If the Seahawks pull that off, they’ll be considered as one of the best defenses of all-time, having beaten the two best quarterbacks of this generation in back-to-back years.
It’s a Super Bowl that should be classic in every way, and the oddsmakers clearly see history being made before the season is through.
