Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiters was so excited on a fast break that he forgot dribbling is most important.

You know when you’ve witnessed a basketball fight. Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning and Jeff Van Gundy come to mind.

But no, not that kind of fight.

The kind of fight in which a tyke, or a youngster finds himself all alone on a fast break and he can barely control himself. The crowd rises up, the building fills with noise and the pressure becomes too much to handle.

The young man fumbles with the basketball that draws a collective sigh.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dion Waiters brought each and every one of us back to that exact moment we watched a youngster struggled so mightily in that situation:

The third-year pro found himself streaking down the left side of the extended elbow when he first fumbled the ball. He quickly collected himself as he neared the 15-foot mark at which point he completely forgot about the ball.

He was then standing underneath the basketball without the ball.

Because the ball bounced straight to him, he gathered it and still had a chance to score. At that point though the Timberwolves defense recovered and altered his shot to the point he missed the once gimme bucket.

Luckily for Waiters his team currently holds a 10 point lead with just over two-minutes remaining in the game.
