Chelsea’s Diego Costa stepped on Liverpool’s Emre Can during the Capital One Cup.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa got into it with Liverpool vice-captain Jordan Henderson last week during the first leg of their Capital One Cup clash. They reportedly had to be separated when they got into the tunnel after the game, each being pulled into their respective locker rooms by teammates.

It looks like Costa isn’t winning over any Liverpool fans or players in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. Liverpool midfielder Emre Can went down near the touchline as he was trying to fight off Costa.

When the ball was kicked in-bounds, Costa turned to chase it while Can laid on the ground. Costa then seemed to step on Can’s leg.

Watch the video below and decide for yourself whether he stepped on him or not.

Costa has a reputation for getting frustrated and out of his element and that might be the case with this situation. The stepping incident sparked a huge scuffle with players confronting Costa before coaching staff came out onto the field to drop in their two cents. Needless to say it should be entertaining to watch the rest of the game.

[UPDATE:]  It looks like Costa stepped on Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel later in the game, though the referee wasn’t aware of what was going on because he was busy arguing with Lucas Leiva over a yellow card he had just whistled.

This one looks like you could argue as “less intentional” but given Costa’s history, I don’t think he gets the benefit of the doubt.
