Schools with most players in Super Bowl
By CM Towle
A few colleges can boast about their high numbers of players playing in this year’s Super Bowl.
It has to be helpful in recruiting players for a college program if the program can point out past players who have not only had NFL success, but have played in a Super Bowl or two. This year, three schools have four players each in the Super Bowl and three more below that have three, while over 10 have two. The three schools with four are Rutgers, Texas A&M and Oregon, according to a story by Business Insider.

Wisconsin actually takes the prize with a total of six players, four on the Seattle Seahawks and two on the New England Patriots. So no matter who wins on Sunday, a Badger or two is going to get a ring. Obviously the most well-known Wisconsin player in the Super Bowl is Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and he already has one ring from last year’s Super Bowl. The other guy who gets playing time is defensive end O’Brien Schofield.
The Patriots have all the Rutgers players, including free safety Devin McCourtey, who is probably the most well-known of the bunch. The Patriots and Seahawks each have two Oregon players, and both are pretty integral guys. For the Seahawks it’s starting center Max Unger and fullback Will Tukuafu. Tukuafu was not on the team for last year’s Super Bowl appearance. The Patriots have safety Patrick Chung and running back LeGarrette Blount who has emerged as a threat for them after he was cut from the Steelers and acquired by New England.
As for Texas A&M, the Seahawks have running back Christine Michael, backup center Patrick Lewis, backup safety Steven Terrell and probably most famous would be sack dance master defensive end Michael Bennett. Bennett has largely emerged as the Seahawks main threat up front, in spite of his recent cascade of false start penalties. He has seven sacks and 38 combined tackles on the year.
The Patriots most prolific player, quarterback Tom Brady, went to Michigan and there are Michigan players on both sides, if not exactly super prolific ones. Regardless, all eyes will be on Brady and Wilson as they go for their fourth and second trophies respectively.
