Central Florida creates area in football stadium with fake beach

The University of Central Florida is going a step further to improve their new football stadium by showing SEC games on huge monitors during UCF contests.

What? No?

Oh, here it is.

UCF is improving the experience of their fans attending home games by offering premium seating in which they can watch games from a beach themed deck.

"“The whole idea was we’re in Central Florida and we want everyone to know where we are. It’s November and we’re wearing shorts and flip flops and it’d be great to showcase our community, and so the idea came up to do some kind of premium experience on the east side.” – Zack Lassiter, UCF senior associate athletic director for external operations – or the SAADFEO at UCF for short."

That’s right for $900 dollars fans can join the East Side Club and pretend they’re at the ocean, when in fact they’re really at a football game. Clever.  While there will be no real water or sand featured, you can bet there will be plenty of tools in board shorts.

Just kidding, UCF. No hard feelings. Plenty of sports teams have tried to liven up their home attendance experience with club gimmicks. See the Jacksonville Jaguars end zone swimming pools which this year were filled with their fans tears after an abysmal season.

"The East Side Club will have a sundeck area facing the field, a chair-back premium seating section above the sundeck and another covered beach-themed lounge area behind the sundeck on the concourse. The premium area will include Wi-Fi access, televisions and bars where fans will be served a variety of beers and frozen alcoholic drinks. The membership does not cover the cost of drinks and the capacity for the club will be 950 people."

“Chair backs? TVs? Frozen drinks? Did you hear that brah? We don’t even have to watch the Knights play.”

Innovation in all fan experiences is applauded. This seems a little lame.
