After being the top snub for the All-Star Game in Brooklyn, Damian Lillard gets support in the most unlikely of places.

After realizing that their own Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers was snubbed out of the All-Star game, they decided to take to Twitter to voice their displeasure:

Obviously the only people in the world who’ll think the Portland Police department is actually opening up an investigation are those who believe Bill Belichick when he says he conducted studies surrounding Deflate-Gate last week.

Instead, the focus needs to be on the severity of this snub.

Lillard has led his team to a sound 32-14 record in the West, which puts them in the third or fourth slot (depending on tiebreakers). His stat line is juicy as he’s pouring in an average of 21.8 points, 6.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

He’s shooting .484 percent from the field and .367 percent from the land of three.

He’s an absolute stud and hasn’t fallen off at all in 2014-15.

So why was he left off the roster? Well, quite simply, it’s because fan voting ruins the All-Star game.

Take a look at the reserves from the West:

  • Chris Paul
  • Russell Westbrook
  • James Harden
  • Klay Thompson
  • Kevin Durant
  • LaMarcus Aldridge
  • Tim Duncan

Which guy are you taking off for Lillard?

You can easily argue Duncan, as his stats are nowhere near all-star worthy, He’s a big man though and only the second big on the roster next to the injured Aldridge.

You can’t argue Paul, Westbrook, Thompson, Durant or even Harden who plays terrible on the defensive end. Harden’s offensive production this season is worthy of a spot in itself.

Lillard just seems like the odd man out in an unlucky season.

That is, until you gloss over the starters again.

  • Stephen Curry
  • Kobe Bryant
  • Blake Griffin
  • Anthony Davis
  • Marc Gasol

First of all, Blake Griffin is nowhere near starter status in the All-Star game. He’s a freakish athletic talent who has way too many holes in his game to be considered on this level. The man has no low post game.

Griffin aside, there’s no doubt who the culprit is: one Kobe Bryant.

Fan voting has yet again burned another superstar NBA player. Unless he finds his way in through injury, which is very likely, fan voting takes away much deserved trips to All-Star games for burgeoning superstars.

Hopefully Lillard finds his way on due to Kobe’s injury.
