After almost six years since the last film was released, the James Cameron blockbuster ‘Avatar’ is relaunching their social media presence, suggesting a sequel is on its way.

You might remember ‘Avatar’ as kickass 3D movie with the blue kitties that worshipped trees released in 2009. It’s gorgeous visuals, coupled with its innovated use of 3D technology told the story of a race of blue aliens (the Native American allegory) as they fought against the violent and greedy humans (the imperialistic United States allegory) to protect their home planet from destruction.

Though it was released over five years ago now, the film has yet to receive a sequel despite making oodles of cash and being the highest grossing movie of all timeRegardless of why it has taken so long for a sequel to come out, the makers of Avatar have made plans to release three sequels, with the first one premiering in 2017.

And if a studio’s word doesn’t give you hope that the movie will be released (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t really give anyone hope) there’s even more reason to believe that production of the movies is coming soon: The film’s social media feeds are being relaunched this week.

That’s right. Avatar‘s presence on Twitter, Tumblr, SoundCloud, Facebook, and Pinterest (because even the Na’vi like to have their own wedding inspiration board) have started to come back to life despite some being idle since 2011. This comes at the heels of Academy Award winning director and marine life enthusiast James Cameron recently announced that he is delaying the release of the sequels to make sure their all polished up before putting them to production.

Aside from hyping us all up for another epic 3D adventure, the social media sites are pretty cool places to engage a bit more in the world of the Na’vi. The creator of the Na’vi language and linguistics professor at the University of Southern California Paul Frommer helped create the @LearnNavi Instagram feed that teaches the basics of the language, showing words with photo stills from the movie.

Na’vi language creator Paul Frommer, a linguistics professor at the University of Southern California, helped with the @LearnNavi Instagram feed that will teach basics of the native tongue. Pairing words with stills and never-before-seen images from Avatar will allow fans to engage with the language in an all-new way. The SoundCloud page will even allow fans to hear what the words sound like, allowing you to blow off your Spanish homework and pick up this utterly useless language instead!

Aside from that the Pinterest page has a “visual encyclopedia of Pandora” allowing you to look more into the creatures, plants, and scenery.

Not too bad for a movie released back when Cee Lo Green was topping the charts.
