No one wants Jameis Winston as their quarterback
By Mike Dyce
In a poll, NFL fans overwhelmingly picked Marcus Mariota over Jameis Winston as the player they’d prefer to be the quarterback of their NFL team.
Many NFL fans view it as a toss up between Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota as the top overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. They both come into the draft carrying Heisman Trophies, though Winston has the National Championship win on his resume.
Still, NFL fans would rather have Marcus Mariota as their quarterback. In an ESPN poll, NFL fans overwhelmingly said they’d pick Mariota over Winston by a margin of 71 to 29 percent.
What makes this even more shocking is the state by state breakdown. Winston didn’t receive a majority of the votes in any state, not even Florida where he played his college ball.
Of course this could be about the mediocre passes he throws, having benefited from receivers like Kelvin Benjamin during his Heisman Trophy and National Championship run.
Mariota is a dual threat quarterback like Winston, and that could be a hinderance to his perceived NFL success.
But the real reason NFL fans might not be too high on Winston is his off-field antics. Aside from the allegations that plagued his breakout season, there are other immature mental issues like suiting up and warming up for a game he was suspended for.
