The Goran Dragic drama continues to build in Phoenix but the New York Knicks think they have an offer that will get the trade done before the deadline.

In the last few hours before the trade deadline in the NBA, Goran Dragic’s name will be mentioned more than it has all season long — which is saying a lot considering the way he’s been playing and the recent drama about his situation in Phoenix.

But now that the Suns — and the rest of the NBA — know that he won’t be re-signing in the summer, there is added pressure to make a deal happen and ship him off before there is lost profit on his return. There are two teams at the forefront of the Dragic market and one of them thinks they have thedeal that will make this trade happen.

According to NBA insider David Aldridge, the Knicks have a trade package together they believe will entice the Suns and finally end the Goran Dragic mess.

That package of Tim Haraday Jr and Jose Calderon is hardly a barn burner deal, but it’s one that the Suns may have to settle for. Everyone in the NBA knows that Dragic will be available in the summer, meaning no one has to trade a thing now and may still end up with him in 2015-16.

But there can only be one team that will be able to offer Dragic a five-year max deal and that’s the team who has him on roster after the 3pm deadline to trade players. That’s why the Knicks so badly want to acquire Dragic when they can, but their offer may not be what the Suns are ultimately looking for — not that they can be picky.
