The Chicago Blackhawks have denied rumors that their locker room is divided and that a fight has occurred with Patrick Sharp at the center of it all.

All week, Chicago radio has been buzzing with rumors that the Chicago Blackhawks locker room is disrupted by personal life problems for players including Patrick Sharp. After Sunday’s practice, the Hawks players finally addressed the rumors they say are false.

After the radio stations grabbed the rumor that the Blackhawks have a locker room that is at discord, a former NFL player and Fox analyst tweeted that there was a fist fight in the locker room.

“It is laughable, it’s comical,” Patrick Sharp said to reporters after practice Sunday. “But when it affects your family, when you’ve got two little girls at home and your parents are calling you, it takes a toll.”

Chicago’s top defenseman Brent Seabrook told reporters after practice that the locker room is even tighter than it’s ever been.

“We’ve never been a tighter group,” Seabrook said. “Some of the rumors that have been said, I think are laughable. You know, there’s nothing going on in this locker room. I’ve been here 10 years and nothing’s been going on, so we’re a tight group.”

Patrick Sharp was the Chicago Blackhawks’ leading scorer last season but Sharp has no goals and just two assists in his last 15 games as speculation looms that the rumors are affecting his play.

“If you’re feeling good, that translates on the ice,” Sharp said. “Looking at specifically hockey, I’ve been injured this year, battled back, had some tough stretches and had some good stretches. But I’m feeling good about the way I’m playing, I know I’m on a good line, have good teammates with me and things are going to break through.”

Sharp said he may also be considering legal action to stop the rumors about him and the locker room.

The Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens have all been named as top contenders for Patrick Sharp if Chicago chooses to trade him by Monday, the trade deadline. If the rumors have any truth, you can expect that Chicago will be looking to exchange Sharp.

The Chicago Blackhawks currently sit at fourth in the Western Conference with 79 points on the year.
