Philadelphia Eagles want Marcus Mariota

Marcus Mariota is on the Philadelphia Eagles’ radar.

Ever since he declared for the 2015 NFL Draft, many mock drafts have predicted that the Philadelphia Eagles would make an intriguing move and trade the farm away to bring in Marcus Mariota.

With Chip Kelly getting a bigger role within the front office and the player personnel department, Kelly really has nothing to lose in going after Mariota.

If the Eagles bring in Mariota, it’s a win-win for Chip.

If they go to the playoffs, he looks like a genious. If the Eagles fail miserably, he will still have a job waiting for him at the collegiate level. That being said, the Eagles could very well after Mariota.

There has been a report that the Eagles are in fact interested in the Oregon product.

Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com said that he is hearing more and more that the Eagles will make an attempt to move up and select Mariota as the draft nears.

"Every day, with little things I hear, evidence continues to build that the Eagles are going to make a strong play for Marcus Mariota. To note, this is something I had previously thought to be unrealistic, so as bits of information have trickled in, they’ve been absorbed on my end with skepticism. But it appears the Eagles are determined to get their guy. Forecasting an Eagles trade that would land them Mariota is extremely difficult, considering the high number of variables and other teams involved. In other words, while the Eagles want Mariota and seem determined to make it happen, this is not a slam dunk."

With this report, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Eagles are intrigued by the possibility of bringing in Mariota.

It’s no secret that Kelly loves Mariota and in his offense, where speed prevails, Mariota could very well be the perfect fit.

Obviously, the Eagles will need to trade away a few first-round picks, but considering Kelly’s position in the front office, this trade would not come as a surprise at all.
