Portland Trailblazers’ Wesley Matthews will be out for the rest of the season with a torn Achilles
Portland Trail Blazers’ Wesley Matthews will be out for the rest of the season with a torn left Achilles tendon.
Matthews went down on Thursday night in the middle of the game against the Dallas Mavericks. He caught a pass and made a move to the basket, but went straight down like a sniper shot him.
You can check out the play right here:
This is a tough break for the Blazers and will be huge blow for the team. What are they going to do now without one of their key players in the game?
Matthews is expected to be a free agent at the end of the year. He was putting up big numbers for the team during the season. Before the game, Matthews was averaging 16.1 point per game and shooting 39.1% from beyond the arch. He will be missed on the court.
The Blazers are 3rd in the Western conference at the moment, but they will have to continue their season without a key player on the roster. The team did trade for Arron Afflalo before the trade deadline. Afflalo will be a key player to fill the hole that Mathews will leave with the injury. What a big move that was for the Blazers to pick up Afflalo. At least they have someone that can step in and still produce on the floor with the absence of Matthews.
