Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry talked about his chances of winning the Most Valuable Player award in an interview with Bleacher Report.

Stephen Curry has been one of the most dominant players in the NBA all season long, and he is without question one of the most likely candidates to win the Most Valuable Player award.

There are a few other very deserving candidates as well that Curry is currently battling with. Those candidates are Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and of course James Harden. It is hard to choose between those three players, but Curry has a very good chance to come out on top of them because of the success that his team has had this year with him at the helm.

During an interview with Bleacher Report, Curry talked about his MVP chances and made his case for the award.

“I’d like to say my play on the floor kind of speaks for itself,” Curry said. “It’s all about winning, and I’m just enjoying where we are as a team. If any of those accolades come with winning and I like to go out every night and just play as consistent as possible and do what I can to help my team win. I’ll let that speak for itself.”

Curry found a very mature way to make his case for the award, and what he said was very convincing. At this point in the season, the Warriors are 53-13 which is good enough for the best record in the entire league. They are seven games ahead of the second-place Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference.

Throughout the season to this point, Curry has averaged 23.5 points, 7.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. He has shot 48.1 percent from the floor overall and 42.1 percent from behind the three-point arc.

Those numbers are certainly MVP caliber stats, and the record is a major selling point for him as well. Curry has taken his game to a new level in nearly every single aspect from last season, and Steve Kerr has been a big part of his improvement. At 27 years old, the future is still exceptionally bright for Curry.

All of that being said, the Warriors are a legitimate championship caliber team this season. They have worked extremely hard to get themselves to this point, but would be nowhere near where they’re at without Curry on the court. Don’t be surprised to see him end up winning the MVP award over the other deserving candidates because of his team’s success.
