The plot details for the latest Captain America installment has been released.

With the latest trailers and posters for Avengers: Age of Ultron coming out like gangbusters just a month before it hits theaters, fans of the Marvel movies have a whole lot to be excited for. And as if that wasn’t enough, Marvel has even released the official synopsis for Captain America: Civil War with the casting notices for the movie.

"Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies."

The film is scheduled to begin filming on April 1st. I wouldn’t let the date throw you off … I hope.

Any comic book fans out there worth their salt should be able to recognize the act as the Superhuman Registration Act, a resolution which would force any superhero in the world to reveal their secret identity. There is a big glaring issue with this however: none of the superheroes in the Marvel films have secret identities. They all pretty much live out in the open, with Tony Stark actually announcing to the world that he was Iron Man in the first film and Steve Rodgers being as old as your great grandma. The only one I can conceive of needing his identity would be Bruce Banner, but even he lives on the lam most of the time.

That’s why the deal to attain Spider-Man for Marvel was so crucial. He’s a kid who needs his identity to protect his family and friends. Though they are still going to have to reconcile how he would be the only one who would be really affected by the act.

At the center of the resolution are two camps: team Stark — who seek to push forward with the act — and team Rogers — who think it’s a violation of superhero liberties. Either way, we have a whole lot to look forward to in the next few movies. Heads will clash and roll as these two superbros go at it.

Captain America: Civil War premieres May 6, 2016.
