Kevin Ware may be suiting up for Georgia State in the NCAA basketball tournament, but he’s still going for Louisville.

The last time Kevin Ware was in the tournament, he was playing for eventual champion Louisville in 2013. He suffered a gruesome leg injury during an Elite Eight game against Duke. Now, he’s back, but he’s playing for Georgia State, who just upset Baylor 57-56.

Yet, despite all of this, Ware tweeted on Friday that he was rooting for his old team, the Louisville Cardinals.

He told reporters on Wednesday that his dream matchup would be against his former team and coach Rick Pitino, according to a story by the Washington Post. Ware said that would have been a big storyline and personally satisfying to him for the first game in the tournament. He later said that he hopes the Cards advance as well as his current team, Georgia State.

Ware said he has struggled mentally to recover from the injury suffered two years ago, according to a story by ABC News. He said he had a hard time just being that guy who broke his leg on national TV. He transferred to Georgia State out of Louisville, a school closer to his home of Rockdale, and quickly became a leader on the team. The Panthers needed that kind of leadership to return from a 12 point deficit to beat Baylor. Even though Ware only scored four points in the game, he said it was just a great feeling to get a win like that as an underdog.

The Cardinals beat UC Irvine by a similar score of 57-55 on Friday at Key Arena in Seattle.
