North Carolina and Wisconsin brought back the madness in March Madness with a thrilling Sweet Sixteen game that saw the Badgers made a late run to knock out the Tar Heels.


The Badgers and Tar Heels played arguably the best game of the NCAA Tournament since a raucous and upset-filled Thursday in the first day of the Big Dance last week.

North Carolina took a two-point lead at halftime after Sam Dekker hit a buzzer-beater to close the first half and bring Wisconsin within two after Frank Kaminsky struggled in the first half. The player of the year candidate only had four points on 2-7 shooting and five rebounds in the first half.

He came alive in the second half to finish with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists to lift No. 1 Wisconsin past North Carolina by the score of 79-72 to advance to the Elite Eight where they’ll play the winner of Xavier and Arizona which tips off later tonight.

Dekker had a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds for the victors.

This is the second straight Elite Eight appearance for the undisputed Big Ten champions who are one win away from the Final Four and two wins away from cutting the nets down as national champions.
