Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford contemplated retirement

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford contemplated retirement after his latest ACL injury. Can you blame him?
Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford contemplated retirement after tearing his ACL in his left knee for the second time in a year. He was talked out of it by his college football coach though, per SI. Can you blame Bradford? Everyone thinks that Bradford could be a solid quarterback in the league, but he has never been able to stay on the field. He has struggled with injuries since he has been in the league. In his 5 seasons in the league, he has only been able to play in all 16 games during 2 of those seasons.

In the last 2 seasons, Bradford has only played in 7 games and he didn’t even get the chance to step on the field last season for the Rams. The Philadelphia Eagles made the trade for the quarterback this offseason and Bradford will get a fresh start. That could be something that Bradford needs and could get him rolling in the right direction.
Can you blame Bradford for thinking about retirement? He has struggled with injuries so often that he had to question if he could ever be healthy. He has doubts if he is able to stay healthy in this league. If he were to go down with another injury, then he may just hang it up.
Bradford said after the 2014 season that he “didn’t want to come back” because he was tired of rehabbing his injury.
“It was one of those moments where, after all the time and energy and passion that he poured into rehabilitating himself in the first injury, you feel like you’re snakebitten,” Heupel said to thePhiladelphia Inquirer. “You don’t know when, if, or how your body is going to respond and what your next opportunity is. You’re really just in a lot of limbo. Sometimes, I think, just having a voice from an outside perspective is something that can be valuable.”
He gets the chance to run with Chip Kelly’s offense in Philly. Will that bring a revival to his career. I am not sure how that will help his health, but the team has the running game that he can depend on with DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles taking the rock for the team. Bradford could just be looking to give them the ball over and over and over again. That seems like a simple job for Sam and that could keep him healthy for the year.
If Bradford is able to stay healthy, then he should be a solid quarterback for the Eagles. When he has been on the field, he has been productive. We would expect the same if he is healthy, especially if it is in Chip’s high-powered offense.
