In the midst of a frustrating season, Kings players locked their head coach Darryl Sutter out of the locker room after a game.

The 2014-2015 season certainly was not the way the Los Angeles Kings wanted it go. After winning their second Stanley Cup after an emotional playoffs last season, the Kings fell just short of the final playoff spot in a tough Western Conference this year.

Amidst a season of frustration and struggles, it appears the Kings, at one point, were fed up with their coach, Darryl Sutter.

They got so fed up and tired of his tirades and speeches after games that after one particular game, they went to extra lengths to not have to hear their coach let them have it.

According to the New York Post, the Kings locked Darryl Sutter out of the locker room and barricaded the door after a game.

"Slap Shots has been told by two sources that the Kings locked the door to their locker room following a defeat on the road within the last two weeks so that Sutter could not get in and deliver what the players apparently expected to be another in a series of lectures/tirades.As the tale was told, after Sutter finally tracked down an arena operative to unlock the door, he was greeted by three heavy waste receptacles lined up as barricade to what had become an empty room."

That’s right, they barricaded the door with every large object they could to avoid the wrath of Sutter. What makes this entire thing interesting and absurd is that the Kings are a veteran group of champions and large men who have gone through the rigors of intense coaching their entire career.

It raises the question of how just intense does Sutter get after a loss? Certainly the thought of Sutter getting angry is no surprise, as he is constantly making faces on the bench of a person ready to get on the ice and board his players after bad plays.

It’s unclear when the Kings did lock out Sutter, and general manager Dean Lombardi said the incident happened back in February and not recently as the recent report suggested.

Still, it sounds like the incident indeed happened and the fact that a team that has just won two Stanley Cups would lock their coach out of the locker room shows that things aren’t as well as they once were in the Kings locker room.

No word on if Sutter let them have it on the bus to the airport instead of the locker.
