Week 3 of the Major League Baseball season is behind us, and the MLB Power Rankings are starting to get tighter and tighter as more teams try to stake claim to the top spot.

Things are really starting to get heated in Major League Baseball. And no, I’m not talking about the chip on the shoulder that the Kansas City Royals bring with themselves to the ballpark seemingly each and every night. No, I’m talking about the cluster at the top of our weekly MLB Power Rankings.

This week’s ranking saw a total of 3 votes separate the top spot from the number 5 spot. The number 1 team in this week’s rankings didn’t get a single first place vote, although they did have the best accrued score, and the teams that did get first place votes finished no better than 3rd and 5th respectively. That shows how torn our voters were between the top-5 contenders for king of the hill. Each team had it’s pluses and minuses, and our voters weighed each to try to come to a consensus.

However, a lot can change from week to week. With a big series this coming weekend between the Detroit Tigers and Royals and another between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, there could be even more shuffling atop the rankings as the week rolls on.
