Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong flipped the bat with authority after hitting a walk-off home run to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Kolten Wong dropped the mic Sunday afternoon as the St. Louis Cardinals picked up another victory.

With the game tied at two in the bottom of the 14th inning, Wong sent everyone home after a long day. He took a hanging off-speed pitch and disposed of it into the right field seats.

As he ran up the first base line, he got excited about his big moment and absolutely fired the bat away to let everyone know he was the man.

Radhames Liz was so upset for leaving the ball up that he threw his arm up in disgust with himself.

Wong, though, became a legend with that bat throw. It wasn’t just a goodbye, this one is over flip; he threw it to the side, like DeMarco Murray does to would-be tacklers.

If anything was learned Sunday, it’s that if Wong hits a walk-off home run, no bat is safe from his celebration. While many frown upon bat flipping, bat throwing or any celebration after a big hit, it’s okay because it was a walk off and the game was over.

Had he fired his bat like that in, say, the second or fourth inning, then there might have been issue with it.

Dropped the mic indeed.
