One of the most intriguing undrafted free agents, Connor Halliday, has signed with Washington.

From Washington State to Washington, Connor Halliday has found a home in the NFL.

The man that once threw 714 passes in a season is ready to take his arm to help the Washington Redskins and perhaps solve their quarterback problem.

The team has Robert Griffin III at quarterback, and 2015 could be his last chance that he can prove to be a consistent and winning quarterback in this league.

At Washington State, the team was known for passing the ball with Halliday and they almost never ran it. In fact, before his season came to an end in 2014, set an FBS record when he threw for 734 yards in a game.

For a quarterback that has thrown so many times in his career, scouts have plenty of tape to look at when it comes to Halliday and it appears that Washington liked what they saw.

He is described as a system quarterback, and could potentially end up being the piece that Jay Gruden needs at quarterback if he’s going to succeed during his tenure coaching Washington.

As an undrafted free agent, he will have to fight to get snaps in the off-season, but in the preseason he should have plenty of opportunities, with Washington not likely to risk throwing Griffin out for too many quarters. If he can impress, there’s a good chance that he can compete with Kirk Cousins for the backup position.

Halliday was a unique talent in college and led Washington State back to a bowl game in 2013. Injuries and bad luck cost the Cougars their season in 2014, but the program could be poised for a rebound this season. That same rebound could come for Washington as well.

Halliday should have a real shot to impress and make the roster.
