CFL player breaks record for most one-handed catches in one minute (Video)
CFL player Andy Fantuz breaks one-handed catch record with 50 catches in one minute.
The CFL is known for a couple of things: being the NFL’s baby brother and producing football highlights in the offseason. Now they are dipping themselves into the world record sauce.
Wide receiver for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Andy Fantuz, broke the one-handed catch record with 50 catches in under one minute.
The record for most catches with one hand was set by Odell Beckham Jr. back in January. But it was bound to be re-broken eventually.
Beckham Jr. is known for his ability to catch the ball with one hand after his amazing highlight with the Giants last year. So him breaking the record was far from surprising. But after this record went viral, it got wide receiver, Tevaun Smith, for the Iowa Hawkeyes thinking. What if he could break the record too?
Finally, the CFL wide receiver got his chance to break the record. He shattered it by nine catches. However, whether this record is a Guinness Book of World Records official mark remains to be seen. Obviously, Odell Beckham Jr. and Tevaun Smith used just one hand and had one person throwing. Until it’s confirmed by Guinness, nothing is set in stone.
Until then, enjoy the awesome video of the CFL wide receiver catching 50 footballs with one hand. It’s not something the average Joe can just go in his back yard and do. Which is why we should all just leave it up to the professionals.
