An idiot decided to bring a gun to Game Three of the series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens at the Amalie Arena in Tampa.

A man, undoubtedly one who finds himself somewhere towards the left end of the intelligence bell curve, decided that it was a wise choice to bring a gun to Game Three of the series between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Montreal Canadiens.

From the Associated Press:

"Someone saw Lucas Cassidy drop the gun inside a bathroom at the Amalie Arena on Wednesday night and notified authorities. When a Tampa police officer confronted Cassidy, he told her he had a gun in his pocket.More from Montreal CanadiensNHL Draft winners and losers 2023: Blackhawks hit jackpot, Maple Leafs flopNHL Mock Draft: Connor Bedard No. 1, but who’s next?NHL rumors: Calgary in Flames, Kings, Flyers set for big deals, Hall to ChicagoHockey Hall of Fame Class of 2023 revealed: Welcome to immortality!Hockey Hall of Fame Election: Who is eligible and how to watchPolice say that since Cassidy has a valid concealed weapon permit, he will face a second-degree misdemeanor charge of bringing a gun to a sporting event, rather than a felony charge. Police say he wasn’t screened properly when he arrived at the arena."

But why? What could you have used that gun for? Were you just bringing a concealed gun because you can? Because you can’t.

Clearly if he is dropping the gun in the bathroom, he is not responsible enough to have the permit in the first place. That will now be remedied.

Perhaps it was for some celebratory shots into the air following the Lightning’s 2-1 victory over the Canadiens. Perhaps he was anticipating a shootout in overtime, but was confused. They don’t have shootouts in the playoffs, friend. Plus they don’t have firearms in shootouts.

This is not the first time an idiot has done something absurdly stupid at Amalie Arena during the playoffs. Last week, a Detroit Red Wings fan/infidel to the Tampa Bay Lightning cause set fire to a Lightning fan in a show of support for her team. She was promptly arrested for arson.

Security will undoubtedly be stronger for Game Four. The Lightning lead the series 3-0, and they appear to be a strong candidate to easily win the Cup for the second time in their history.
