Carmelo Anthony will take a crack at acting in sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony hasn’t seen the floor in an NBA environment since the All-Star game that was held in New York in mid-February as he’s been recovering from knee surgery. While he was mercifully stepping off a voyage to the dark abyss known as the Knicks’ 2014-15 regular season, he apparently was landing a cameo role in a blockbuster film.

The Daily Mail reported this week that Anthony was spotted on set for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the sequel to the Michael Bay reboot of the series that hit theaters last summer. It appears as though the Knicks star, who was dressed to the nines when seen and photographed on the set, will have a cameo role in the film.

This shouldn’t come as a massive surprise considering all of the elements at play here. For one, the turtles do call New York City their home, so having one of the most recognizable figures from the city appear in the film is hardly a stretch.

Moreover, Bay as a director is more or less known as being all about the flash in his films. Yes, that more often applies to him spending millions of dollars on unnecessary CGI explosions and cataclysmic events, but that flash could also include getting big names like Anthony to sign on to appear in his films.

What may be the forgotten factor in all of this, though, is that this isn’t Anthony’s first foray into the acting world. He had a cameo role in 2009’s Imagine That starring Eddie Murphy (appearing as himself) and appeared as “Cartwright Soldier” in an episode of the FX television series Sons of Anarchy. His filmography isn’t extensive by any stretch, but he’s been the subject of Hollywood’s cameras before.

The film is set to hit theaters in June 2016, meaning Knicks fans would ideally like to be catching Anthony on the silver screen in between seeing him at Madison Square Garden in the NBA Finals. Unless something miraculous happens to the team’s roster, though, those fans should have pretty clear schedules in regards to their favorite team playing basketball.

If you can’t watch your favorite NBA team and their best player compete for a title, at least you can still watch him interact with mutant reptiles that happen to be well-versed in martial arts.
