Having cemented himself as one of the top players in the playoffs, Blake Griffin apparently hasn’t done enough to remove himself from trade rumors to the Trail Blazers.

Despite having one of the best postseason runs in his career, Blake Griffin apparently hasn’t done enough to win over his own team, apparently. Griffin has led the Los Angeles Clippers to a 2-1 series lead over the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Semifinals by building on his already-solid playoff numbers.

During the postseason thus far, Griffin is averaging 25.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest. He’s absolutely dominating the NBA postseason and everyone has begun to take notice — even the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears, the Trail Blazers could be interested in trading for Blake Griffin this offseason. The Trail Blazers general manager, Neil Olshey, is the former Clippers GM and a guy who once said, “Blake Griffin will only ever be a Clipper.” Now, he could be showing interest in his former power forward as the Trail Blazers could be losing LaMarcus Aldridge this offseason.

Rumors spread like wildfire around professional sports and although this was one that is all speculation by some close to the NBA, it’s starting to gain some traction.

According to Spears, who spoke on John Canzano’s Bald-Faced Truth radio show:

"“This is a rumor. Let me say that three times. This is a rumor. This a rumor. This is a rumor.Blake Griffin.Obviously, there’s a connection there with the GM. And you wonder, if LaMarcus is interested in the Clippers, playing with Chris Paul. Could Neil Olshey get his old superstar with the Clippers in Portland?I think you get to a point where – Neil is smart. You’ve got to have a come-to-Jesus meeting with LaMarcus and say, “Hey, do you really want to be here or do you think  you want to go. Because f you really want to go, help us – the same way Steve Nash helped the Suns. Don’t just walk away. Try to help out Portland in the process.”"

Sure, it’s nothing more than hearsay coupled with major speculation, but Griffin could find himself playing for his old general manager in the near future.

It would be tough for a team like the Clippers to get rid of a guy who can be simply dominant, like he has been in the postseason thus far, but they could seriously land Adridge this offseason and would give up Griffin likely for the right price.

This will be an interesting rumor to follow.
