Paul Pierce is playing like a young man, and he’s taking it to the Atlanta Hawks in the most divesting of ways.

Washington won Game 3 this weekend thanks to Paul Pierce hitting a clutch game winner on Saturday night to take a 2-1 series lead. That has set them up to improbably take a 3-1 series lead with them back to Atlanta.

But what it has also set up is a late career revival for Paul Pierce, who looked like he was going to be on his way out after this season but has caught his second wind at the most perfect time for the Wizards.

In the first quarter of Game 4, Paul Pierce went off and decided that he was going to play like he was a young man once again.

On one play, Pierce pumped, spun and drained a three like it was 2002 all over again.

Paul Pierce’s revival in the postseason has been a Godsend for the Wizards, as they’ve been able to play without John Wall leading the team and still manage to win. They have the Hawks in a situation where they will be on the ropes for the remainder of the series if for nothing other than the fact that Washington is looking that good.

Atlanta won’t die easily, but the Wizards are staying afloat thanks to the play of Paul Pierce and even if this series ends with Washington on the wrong side of it, Paul Pierce is still going to have a lot to be proud of as he found the Delorean and has gone back in time.
