The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Kyrie Irving in Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks, which may give the home team an advantage.

Kyrie Irving has been playing most of this postseason banged up and bruised. He didn’t finish the Cavaliers Game 6 close out win against the Chicago Bulls last series and he’s going to miss Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks.

According to Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! Sports, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be without Kyrie Irving tonight when they take on the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2.

This was sort of expected, but it’s also not the worst thing that can happen to the Cavaliers. The road to the NBA Finals is being paved by LeBron James, and the Cavvs best hopes rest with him and him alone. It’s going to be a game of who can step up next to LeBorn James and produce that will determine how well the team does and that’s something we’re going to see in Game 2.

In Game 1 it was J.R. Smith who stepped up, and in Game 2 it will be someone else. That’s the idea behind having a team that is built around a superstar like LeBron James and filling in the right pieces in the right places.

Cleveland isn’t immune to a loss in Game 2, but if they do lose it might have less to do with Kyrie Irving than you think.
