After dismantling Daniel Geale on Saturday night, who will be up next for Miguel Cotto?

Saturday night Middleweight champion Miguel Cotto went out in front of a very supportive crowd in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and he flat-out tore apart the challenger Daniel Geale. Right from the opening bell in this bout, Cotto had the left hook working to perfection, and it eventually wore down Geale to the point where the referee stopped the fight in the fourth round and Cotto was awarded the TKO victory.

But, we all sort of figured that something like this was going to happen. All this fight was for Cotto was an easy payday to keep his momentum going towards a big-money fight against a prominent name down the road.

The only question weighing in on everyone’s mind is: Who exactly will that opponent be? Will it be Canelo Alvarez later this year as everyone suspects, or will it be Gennady Golovkin, the undefeated power puncher who has taken the boxing world by storm?

Well after his victory, he was asked about both fighters as potential future opponents, and he seems to be pretty much all in on the thought of facing Canelo rather soon.

But when the subject of Golovkin is brought up, Cotto doesn’t go into too much detail, being a little more complimentary when he speaks of the knockout artist, which you’ll notice in the interview below that HBO conducted prior to the fight on Saturday.

When the smoke all clears, though, it’s pretty evident that a tremendous fight with Canelo Alvarez will be set up, presumably later this year some time. Both of these fighters are coming off impressive knockout wins, so the stage has been perfectly set for the world of boxing to give us the mega fight that we missed out on with Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

However, the winner better be aware that from that point, there might not be a choice but to get in the ring with Gennady Golovkin.
