If LaMarcus Aldridge is indeed gone from the Portland Trail Blazers, then Kevin Love might be an option for them

With the news on Wednesday that Kevin Love will be opting out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, making him a free agent on July 1, a lot of teams around the NBA will be clamoring for his services. We’ve already heard of a few teams that may be interested, and now you can add the Portland Trail Blazers to that list.

However, there’s a condition for the Blazers to pursue one of the hottest free agents on the market in Kevin Love. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Blazers will only throw their name into the Kevin Love sweepstakes if their own mega star, LaMarcu Aldridge, takes off for free agency too, which most expect him too.

If Love wants to play with a superstar, then he’ll certainly get that at Portland with Damian Lillard. As we saw during his time with Rucky Rubio in Minnesota, Love seems to thrive when he has a dynamic ball handler around him. He might be able to replicate that success with Lillard in Portland.

There are a lot of options on the table for Kevin Love at this point, and that even includes re-signing with the Cavaliers. But apparently one of those options will be the Portland Trail Blazers if they lose their own stud in Aldridge which, again, they very well just might.
