The Los Angeles Lakers apparently didn’t do themselves any favors in their pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge

The NBA Free Agency period is officially underway here on July 1, and arguably the biggest name on the market is that of LaMarcus Aldridge. One of the best big men in the entire NBA, most teams around the league are clamoring for his services, the Los Angeles Lakers being one of them.

Well the Lakers recently met with Aldridge, and according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they really didn’t do all that well of a job in convincing him to make the move to Los Angeles. As a matter of fact, if anything, their meeting with him might have pushed him even further in the direction of their Western Conference rivals, the San Antonio Spurs.

Most people have believed for weeks now that Aldridge will eventually land in San Antonio to give Tim Duncan some help, but when the Lakers are involved in anything, you can never count them out. In fact, the Lakers are really the only ones that can count themselves out, and apparently they did just that with their lackluster meeting with Aldridge.

As more and more time goes on, it’s pretty much becoming inevitable that Aldridge will be a member of the Spurs in a little over a week when the signing can officially begin. Maybe the best NBA franchise of this generation will only be getting better, and apparently they have the Lakers they can thank for that after this bit of news.

Not to mention, the Spurs traded Tiago Splitter on Wednesday, clearing up the room for them to eventually pay Aldridge the money that he wants.
