The New York Knicks are finding so many ways to screw up free agency, but they might happen to sign DeAndre Jordan and fix it all.

After losing out on Greg Monroe, getting the shaft from LaMarcus Aldridge and only scoring on free agents who are subpar at best, the Knicks are in serious danger of wasting this offseason.

It’s been a brutal run in free agency for Phil Jackson, but he might be able to cobble together some sort of a plan if he can convince DeAndre Jordan to come play for him. That’s a stretch, as the Clippers still seem like the best destination for Jordan but the Knicks aren’t out of the running just yet.

According to Ian Begley from ESPN New York, the Knicks apparently left a good impression on DeAndre Jordan — which is good considering they have struck out thus far in free agency.

This comes on the heels of reports that the Knicks are making a run at Robin Lopez, valuing him at as much as $13 million per season.

If that’s the case, the Knicks would have to choose between Jordan and Lopez, and still run the risk of losing both. The Lakers are interested in Lopez and the Clippers and Mavericks remain the most likely destinations for Jordan.

New York has a chance to pull some sort of an offseason together here, but they’ll probably find a way to mess it all up. The universe has taught us that the Knicks are nothing if not persistently awful at everything.
