The 2015 MLB All-Star Game is set to take place tonight, so who are the past MVPs who have shaped the way the contest is played today?

With the 2015 MLB All-Star Game approaching on Tuesday night, there are many superstars who will take the mound or step up to the plate in Cincinnati and could be in line for the Midsummer Classic’s MVP Award.

Since introducing the MVP award to the game in 1962, there have been many big names who have won the MVP of the All-Star Game in the past and many of the names on this list comprise a who’s who of baseball royalty. However only four of players have won the award multiple times, with Cal Ripken Jr. (1991, 2001), Gary Carter (1981, 1984), Steve Garvey (1974, 1978), and Willie Mays (1963, 1968) claiming two awards each.

Can Mike Trout add his name to the list again in 2015 or will another player step up and take the award for the first time?

Let’s take a look at the MVPs of the All-Star Game since 1962. Many of the names on this list are Hall of Famers. Could this year’s winner be a future inductee?
