Floyd Mayweather announced that he’ll be fighting on September 12 and we know who his opponent will be

On Tuesday afternoon we learned that Floyd Mayweather would be stepping into the ring on September 12, something that we’ve been hearing for quite some time now. However, what we didn’t immediately learn was who his opponent would be.

Well, just a short time after the announcement was made, we do now.

When September 12 rolls around, Floyd Mayweather will be stepping into the ring against Andre Berto, the name that has been thrown out there the most.

After Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao, he made it clear that he would be fighting once again some time in September, which is right on his normal schedule. Not long after he walked away victorious from the mega-fight, Mayweather specifically named Berto as the front runner to face him when the time comes.

Now, Andre Berto will be the man tasked with trying to put a dent in the unblemished record of Floyd Mayweather. Berto will come into the fight with an overall professional record of 30-3 with 23 knockouts. It’ll be sexy for everyone to see that Floyd is walking in there with someone that has some punching power, but if recent history is any indication, this might be an easy win for Floyd.

While that record for Berto looks pretty good on paper, those three losses have all come in his last six fights. He hasn’t had the best run as of late, so Mayweather may be able to take this one away easily.

But, hey, there would be no better way to change your recent string of luck than to be the one remembered as the person who gave Mayweather the first loss of his professional career.
