Plenty of deserving NFL players are still looking to get enshrined in Canton, but which Hall of Famers should they replace?

With the NFL Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony scheduled for August 8, there are sure to be plenty of debates after the latest class receives its gold jackets.

Hall of Fame voting in any sport tends to lead to some controversy. As only five modern-era players can enter the Hall of Fame per year, the NFL particularly causes some arguments among fans in that regard.

Thanks to a number of questionable selections in the mid-2000s, the NFL has a backlog of players who deserve enshrinement but are still waiting. There are plenty of fantastic players not yet in the Hall of Fame, particularly at the wide receiver and offensive line positions.

Football, in particular, has some voter guidelines and criteria that really ratchets up the debate. In such a team-oriented game, it becomes difficult to judge individual accomplishments.

With a sport like baseball, individual statistics can tell a lot more about how good a player was. Conversely, plenty of NFL Hall of Fame cases have been decided by Super Bowl titles, thus leaving a lot of worthy players on the outside looking in, while enshrining a few inductees who were fortunate to be on great teams.

No Hall of Famer can be regarded as a bad player, but there are some who are a little less deserving than their peers. Let’s take a look at at 10 players who should not be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
