The NBA schedule has dropped, which means fans are now wondering when they can buy tickets to the games they’re looking forward to seeing.

When is LeBron James coming to your hometown to play your favorite team? When can you see Kobe Bryant make his last trip to your home arena in a Lakers uniform? How many times will you see a rival team come through? These are all questions we have after looking at the NBA schedule, which dropped this evening, and now the quest to buy tickets has begun.

After we’ve circled the games out teams appear on national television and the big matchups we can’t wait to see, the quest to find tickets to the big games we want to see in person commences and it’s one of the most exciting times of the year.

But just because the schedule has been released doesn’t mean tickets immediately go on sale.

Fans who want to flock to the ticket office and pick up admission to the biggest home games of the year are going to have to wait a little while before they can purchase tickets to the games they want to see. With the schedule just now being released, the first step teams will take in making tickets available is to send out season ticket packages to season ticket holders.

This will be your first unofficial chance to buy single-game tickets for games you want to see. While they’re not officially single-game tickets sold by the team, season ticket holders will hit StubHub and other ticket resale sites to try and see what they can get for the tickets they either can’t use or wish to cash in on. If you have a ticket for LeBron James coming to Miami to play the Heat, or tickets to a Christmas Day game, you’re going to put those on the market to see what you can get for them.

It’s not the most economical way to get single-game tickets, but if you absolutely cannot wait to purchase your tickets, that’s the route you’re going to go. Typically those start popping up on StubHub a week or so after the schedule has been released. If you want to save some money and can wait for the team to begin selling single game tickets, you’re going to be looking at a September date to make your purchase.

Each team is going to have a different date they put their tickets on sale. Last year, many NBA teams didn’t release single game tickets until the end of September, which was just over a month before the season actually started. That might not be the same strategy taken this season, but if you’re looking for single-game tickets to go on sale you’re going to be looking at a date no sooner than the middle of September at the best.

Be sure to check your team’s website for the most accurate information on when exactly single-game tickets will go on sale for your favorite team this season.
