Kenjon Barner returns 93-yard punt for TD (Video)

The Eagles are looking sharp in their first preseason game, and their special teams hasn’t missed a beat.

One thing that was hard to deny about the Eagles last season was that their special teams was the most exciting thing about them. They had seven touchdowns and five blocked punts — something that sent fantasy football owners into a coma of ecstasy. The summer has’t worn down those skills, as we’re seeing right off the bat this preseason that the Eagles special teams unit hasn’t missed a beat over the summer.

It took almost two full quarters, but the Eagles returned their first punt for a touchdown of the season.

Moments after the play-by-play announcer speculated the Eagles might be able to get off a few plays if the return was good, Kenjon Barner burned the Colts for a touchdown.

You’re not supposed to catch the ball inside of the 10-yard line, unless you plan on scoring — and that’s exactly what Barner did.

It’s just the preseason, which is the time of year where overreactions run rampant. We’re seeing it in the great few drives that Matt Barkley had and it’s causing us to have reservations about the special teams. Still, that doesn’t mean a 93-yard punt return doesn’t count.
