Dodgers don’t think Mike Fiers cheated during no-hitter
By Josh Hill
The Los Angeles Dodgers are coming to the defense of a pitcher who no-hit them after allegations that cheating may have occurred.
Not long after Houston Astros pitcher Mike Fiers threw a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allegations that he cheated soon popped up. There were photos that went around the internet claiming that a shiny substance can be seen inside of this glove, and that has fueled speculation of a tainted no-hitter.
But if you ask the Los Angeles Dodgers what they think about the no-hitter and the substance conspiracy, they’re not buying it. The team allowed to have a gripe if there’s one to be had, isn’t buying into the idea that Fiers cheated to accomplish his no-hitter on Friday.
Before Saturday’s game, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said after the game that there was nothing suspicious about the way Fiers was pitching or the way the ball was moving.
One Dodgers player went as far as to say that the team simply ‘sucked’ on Friday and there were no concerns about a substance on Fiers glove.
There’s also the fact that the MLB hasn’t contacted Fiers about the substance that may or may not have been on his glove — meaning there isn’t a whole lot of concern about it.
The fact of the matter is, the shine on Fiers glove could have come from just about anything. The Dodgers players are the only group of players with the right to question the no-hitter and they’re not doing that — which tells you all you need to know about how legit Fiers’ no-hitter was.
