The No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs rode a record-setting performance from Greyson Lambert on Saturday to a 52-20 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) jumped out to an early lead on Saturday and never looked back, defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks (1-2) by a score of 52-20 in front of a home crowd at Sanford Stadium. South Carolina hit a field goal before halftime to cut the lead to 24-13, but Georgia scored 21 unanswered points to start the third quarter, putting the game out of reach for good.

Graduate transfer quarterback Greyson Lambert and the running back duo of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel led a high-powered Bulldogs offense that compiled 576 total yards on the day. Lambert had a record-setting performance, completing 24-of-25 passes for 330 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. His 96 percent passing set an NCAA record for completion percentage. Lambert also completed 20 consecutive passes at one point in the game, setting a school record.

Michel recorded three total touchdowns, while Chubb ran for 159 yards and two scores. It was Chubb’s 11th consecutive 100-yard, one short of Georgia’s all-time record held by Herschel Walker.

Former walk-on Perry Orth made his first career start at quarterback for the Gamecocks. Aside from a second quarter rushing touchdown, it was a rather forgettable performance for Orth. He was replaced in the second half by true freshman Lorenzo Nunez, who produced a respectable stat line of 94 total yards and one touchdown.
