The Houston Texans fell to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

24. 87. 17. 10. Final

Here’s everything you need to know about the Houston-Carolina game down in Charlotte. We have several televisions here in the FanSided office, and I politely asked if we could put the game on one of the screens. Not the main screen, mind you, but one of the random televisions specifically devoted to NFL Sunday. Our NFL Director told me to go to hell, watch it on my own computer and never bring that swill into the office again.

The NFL Director said that.

So yeah, here we are.

It was a sloppy affair, with both quarterbacks being hit repeatedly and scrapping to get to a 70 QB Rating. Cam Newton was Carolina’s best threat on the ground, and there was even a Fozzy Whittaker sighting. For the Texans, J.J. Watt was his usual disruptive self, and Ryan Mallett did little instill any confidence.

Houston was 5-19 on third downs; Carolina was 4-13 – punters got a lot of work in. Things tightened up at the end, and Carolina was able to hold on at the end for the 24-17 win.

Basically, it was a sloppy game with an exciting finish.

Three stars

Cam Newton: 18/37, 195 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT; 10 carries, 76 yards, 1 TD

Thomas Davis: 9 tackles (6 solo), 1 pass defended

J.J. Watt: 5 total (4 solo), 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, 2 passed defended

Highlights

This is the only highlight you need to see from the entire weekend.

Odds

Carolina was favored by 3 and covered.

Next Week

Carolina will play the Saints next Sunday in Charlotte during the 1:00 games; Houston will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
