Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says they’re going to keep going for two-point conversions.

The NFL changed rules regarding extra points this season, the snap taking place at the 15-yard line for a 33-yard kick. If teams want to go for two-points, they get to snap the ball from the two-yard line. Most teams seem content with the extra point, though some have mixed it up.

Then there are the Pittsburgh Steelers who seem to have decided to go for the two points more frequently than any other team in the NFL, as chronicled by Deadspin for instance.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says they’re not planning on stopping anytime soon either.

“Oh, we’re going to keep doing it,” Roethlisberger said, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “We don’t practice it this much to not do it. We practice it every single day. … I tried to tell you guys early on that we would do it, and I think you guys kind of didn’t quite believe it. But it’s something we feel comfortable with.”

Roethlisberger added: “If you’re up 8-0 and they go score, they have a decision to make. We feel like we’re a team that’s going to do it enough that it’s going to be hard to get a beat on us.”

There are some coaches at the lower level who have implored tactics like this to a certain degree of success, not punting and going for it on fourth down instead.

If it keeps working for the Steelers, why not keep on trying it and scoring points. Make other teams stop you.
