Steve Bartman declines invite to see Cubs Wild Card playoff game

The Cubs are headed back to the playoffs on Tuesday, but when they do, Steve Bartman will not be in attendance
For the first time in seven years, the Chicago Cubs are headed back to the MLB Playoffs. This Wednesday night, they will take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League Wild Card game. Whenever the Cubs are in the playoffs, though, everyone just wants to talk about one person: Steve Bartman.
Yes, with the Cubs having the season they’ve had, the man who became famous in 2003 for taking an out away from Moises Alou is right at the forefront. However, it’s not all bad. There were even some Cubs fans who want him there in attendance so badly that they started a GoFundMe account to try and get him in. While it was a nice gesture, though, it won’t be happening.
A spokesman for Bartman on Friday made it pretty clear that while it was nice of them to go out of their way like that, Bartman will not be attending the game on Wednesday night.
“It’s nice of these people to think of Steve, but he won’t be taking advantage of the offer,” Frank Murtha said via ESPN.com. “He’s perfectly capable of attending the game on his own, though he has no intention of being at the wild-card game.”
Well, Cubs fans, at least you tried.
Although, this is only for the Wild Card game. Now, let’s say they get back to at least the NLCS. Steve Bartman has to be there to take away all the bad karma from 2003, right?!
