No, Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant will not play this weekend versus the New England Patriots. The National Football League fell victims to a fake Ian Rapoport Twitter account post.

The Fake Ian Rapoport twitter account strike again, this time under the @UncleChaps moniker. The previously used @Ratsheet was promptly blocked on Twitter after the Drew Brees torn rotator cuff hoax after Week 2.

This time the Rapoport impostor tweeted that Bryant was medically cleared to return to practice and play on Sunday against the Patriots. Though Bryant is progressing from his leg injury, he won’t likely be able to play until Week 7 against the New York Giants.

Since the Cowboys have been without both Bryant and starting quarterback Tony Romo, Dallas is 0-2 after a 2-0 start to 2015.

Their schedule is about to amp up in the coming weeks with home dates against New England, the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles, along with a trip to play the Giants. Could the Cowboys finish the first half of their regular season 3-5 or 2-6? That doesn’t seem impossible with lingering quarterback concerns in Romo’s extended stay on Injured Reserve with a broken clavicle.

However, Dallas should get back Bryant after their Week 6 Bye. The NFC East is up for grabs entering Week 5, with Dallas, New York and Washington at 2-2 and Philadelphia only a game back at 1-3. The return of Bryant can only help, but the Cowboys need Romo if they want to win the NFC East.
