The Indianapolis Colts are finally making a move in the AFC South, winning their third game in a row on Thursday night against the Houston Texans, 27-20. Indianapolis was able to survive a divisional road game against Houston despite playing backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Houston had ample opportunity to win the game but took a bevy of penalties, racking up 13 markers for 125 yards. The Texans actually gained 444 total yards, but could not overcome a flurry of penalties and bad turnovers.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Frank Gore

Gore was able to finally get on track, rushing 22 times for 98 yards. Gore was also able to score a touchdown, showcasing a burst that some began to whisper was gone. If Gore can continue to run at this level, Andrew Luck might be able to stay upright a little bit longer.

2. DeAndre Hopkins

Hopkins was unbelievable, catching almost every pass thrown his way. The third-year receiver out of Clemson caught 11 passes for 169 yards on 14 targets, keeping Houston’s offense alive. Hopkins ultimately could not deliver the win, but it was not from a lack of effort.

3. Brian Hoyer

Hoyer came in for Ryan Mallett in the second quarter, and actually played pretty well. Hoyer was able to complete 24-of-31 for 312 yards and a pair of touchdowns with one interception. Hoyer likely earned another start, which is saying absolutely nothing considering Mallett is the competition.

Odds

Indianapolis was favored by five points and covered the spread.

Next Week

The Texans are at EverBank Stadium to play the Jacksonville Jaguars, while the Colts come home to take on the New England Patriots.
