52. 38. 48. Final. 31

The best game of the week was also the sloppiest, as the Toilet Bowl between the Buccaneers and Jaguars was the highest scoring affair of the weekend and the biggest fantasy game of the year as well for one of the Bucs stars.

Maybe ‘best’ is a term that should be used lightly here as entertaining is a better way to describe what happened in Tampa on Sunday. The Buccaneers and Jaguars would not stop trading points, and Tampa Bay’s offense exploded in a huge way we have’t seen yet.

Highlights

It was the Doug Martin show on Sunday, as he blew up for his biggest day in the last few seasons. Martin scored twice on the ground and once thought air.

Three Stars of the Game

1. Doug Martin

This was the berzerker game that we’ve all been waiting to see out of Doug Martin since he broke out in his rookie year. It’s been a slow burn for Martin since that 2012 season, but he is a man on a mission to restore his reputation as one of the best backs in the NFL and that happened today. Martin went for 123 yards and three total touchdowns on the afternoon, making fantasy owners happy and setting the bar high for the rest of his season.

2. Jameis Winston

While Doug Martin was basically all of the Bucs offense on Sunday, it was a good day to have Jameis Winston under center. He finished the afternoon with just over 200 yards but his competition percentage was respectable and he didn’t commit a turnover. That’s the progress that the Bucs need out of Winston, as he only accounted for six of the Bucs final 38 points, but he managed the game well and notched his first blowout win of this career.

3. Bucs D

The most exciting part about Lovie Smith coming to Tampa Bay was the move towards making the defense more like it was back in the heyday of Monte Kiffin. It’s been a hard climb but and the Buccaneers defense did end up allowing 31-points, but the pressure was on all day. Granted, it was the Jags the Bucs were up against, but they were all over the Jacksonville offense and walked away with a defensive touchdown to notch on their belt.

Odds

The Buccaneers were favored by 2.5 points, and more than covered the spread.

Next Week

The Buccaneers will have their bye week while the Jaguars will take on the Houston Texans.
