DeAngelo Williams can’t honor his dead mother because the NFL won’t profit

DeAngelo Williams made a request to wear pink this season to honor his mother who passed away from breast cancer, but the NFL said no.
The NFL continues to amaze, and in the worst ways possible. The league has prove once again this week that it doesn’t seem to care about anything if it doesn’t make them money or follow their precious rules. This includes a cause they’re already behind — Breast cancer Awareness.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams lost his mother to breast cancer last year, and made a heartwarming request to try and honor her memory by wearing pink all season. After all, the NFL has a pink promotion to bring awareness to Brest Cancer, but apparently only they are allowed to take credit for it.
In a gutless move, the NFL has denied Williams’ request to wear pink outside of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, apparently if it isn’t going to make them money.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month in the NFL. It’s meant to help raise money and a worldwide understanding of the impact that breast cancer can have on people’s lives, and it’s an issue that doesn’t just appear for one month of the year before disappearing.
Tim Williams of CBS replied to Field Yates’ tweet, and added a fact that shows why this issue is of far greater personal importance to Williams.

It’s almost shameful to think that the NFL would really rather follow one of their ridiculous policies instead of letting Williams honor his family and the overall issue of breast cancer. Their tiresome rules, regulations, and obsession with money are clearly of more importance here.
Over the last few years, the NFL has consistently dealt with severe issues in a poor manner. From countless cases of domestic violence to a far more simple request from DeAngelo Williams to honor his mother, what does actually matters to the NFL?
We have finally been given our answer: the almighty dollar.
This is 2015, when forward thinking and acceptance should be at it’s highest, yet the NFL continue to display these kinds of actions. To anyone who can separate their love of the sport and adopt a necessary distaste for how the league is run, they can realize how much of a problem this is.
It’s getting worse, and it needs to stop.
