Leonard Fournette is auctioning off his jersey to benefit victims of flooding in South Carolina, and it is one of the rare cases where fans can get a jersey with a name plate still attached.

LSU Tigers sophomore running back Leonard Fournette had a pretty big win over the USC Gamecocks when they came to town. They didn’t come to death valley in Baton Rouge on the best of terms, though, as the game was initially supposed to be a home game for USC. The game had to be move because of safety issues due to serious flooding in the state at the time. Asking fans to come out to that game in South Carolina would not have been the right thing to do, so USC opted to play the game in LSU’s Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers would come out on top, winning 45-24. Fournette played well that game, scoring a touchdown and rushing for over 150 yards.

According to ESPN, Fournette’s jersey will be sold. Normal NCAA rules prevent players from auctioning their own jerseys, and also require schools to remove the nameplate from the jersey before auctioning it, but there will be an exception here. Fournette’s jersey will be unaltered, and the winning bid will get the game jersey with “Fournette” across the back.

Also included in the bidding with the jersey are autographed helmets from LSU coach Les Miles and former USC coach Steve Spurrier. Fournette is sending all proceeds to those affected by the flooding. His family was affected by Hurricane Katrina, so it’s a theme that’s close to his heart, a reason for his giving to that cause.

The bidding for this item starts at $7,000, and may have a chance to be one of the most expensive player-worn jerseys ever.
