The Golden State Warriors are capturing the attention of NBA fans in a way that we have not witnessed in quite some time.

This column is not about the Golden State Warriors.

In fact, it is about teams that are going in the exact opposite direction, as we examine the early-season race for ping-pong balls. The worst teams in the NBA are already falling out of the nightly rotation when it comes to basketball coverage, but that never happens here, as we are captivated by the pursuit of the bottom, especially when squads fall into the bottom five of the league without actually trying to tank.

Let’s take a look at how this week’s tank rankings stack up, beginning with a team that was supposed to be (much) better than it has shown to this point.

team. 89.
The Bucks are “only” 5-7 on the year, but things were supposed to be much better for Milwaukee. Everyone, and I mean everyone, penciled this team in for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but through 12 games, the Bucks boast the third-worst net rating (-6.8 points per 100) in the East, and they are a defensive disaster to the tune of a the second-worst defensive rating (108.1 points allowed per 100) in the entire league.

Milwaukee’s talent level is much higher than this ranking would indicate, and it is definitely too early to full-on worry about the Bucks missing the playoffs. With that said, Jason Kidd can’t be pleased with how things are going right now.
. . Previous: . milwaukee bucks. 5
